Data Center Analyst I
CTG is seeking to fill a Data Center Analyst I opening for our client in Amherst, NY. Location: Amherst, NY Duration: 18 months Overview: The Data Center Analyst I will be responsible for the effective installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware related infrastructure. This role ensures that data center standards are adhered to and policies and procedures are followed according to company guidelines. Primary Responsibilities: Interpret and refine project requirements through active written and verbal communication with engineering staff and other team members. Assign appropriate rack space, infrastructure cables, ports, LAN switch ports, and management switch ports. Accept and manage delivery/pick-up of equipment, staging equipment for installation, and proper handling of shipping documents. Install and remove routers, switches, servers, security appliances, and other equipment, as well as copper cable, fiber cable, racks, patch panels, and other infrastructure components. Engage with the project team to ensure all projects are implemented following documented processes, procedures, and standards while minimizing business impact. Develop and maintain documentation for peer review prior to implementation, ensuring efficiency for future maintenance activities. Interact with others to explain technical requirements, instructions, and project status to individuals with varied technical expertise at all organizational levels. Complete evening responsibilities as scheduled and provide 24x7 on-call support as required. Understand and comply with the company's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls aligned with the company’s risk appetite. Identify and escalate any risk-related issues to management. Promote an environment that fosters diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand. Maintain internal control standards, including the timely implementation of audit findings and addressing issues raised by external regulators. Perform other related duties as assigned. Scope of Responsibilities: This position involves hands-on technical work in a data center environment, with responsibilities including equipment installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The Data Center Analyst I will collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing regular updates and escalating issues as needed. Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities: None Education and Experience Required: A minimum of 4 years of combined higher education and/or work experience. Ability to read and interpret technical documentation. Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience providing updates and status reports to management and technical teams. Proven experience managing customer needs and handling multiple work priorities. Education and Experience Preferred: Associate’s degree in Technology or related field. Certifications or special training in relevant technologies. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
