Data Center Engineer/Technician
Description: TEKsystems client currently has a large amount of data center equipment that must be decommissioned while they are in the midst of consolidating their existing IT environment. They do not have the bandwidth with existing team members to decommission this equipment so they are looking to hire in a Data Center Engineer/Technician to help with this initiative. This individual will also assist with projects on a day to day basis such as tracking fibers, inventory of assets, and various other tasks that need to be done within the data center. This person will support the removal of two large tape drives, each containing 8,000 tapes. Assist in the coordination of the electrical and fire suppression removal. Remove and prepare all tapes to be transported to propriety disposition. Conduct an inventory audit of assets in datacenters. Compare records between systems, and update as needed. Creating and maintaining rack-level diagrams for other service providers. Conduct and import fiber trunk information into their tracking system. Support all physical aspects of IT equipment in their current Datacenters. This includes cabinet enclosures, servers, network routers. Prefer candidate with 3-5 years of production experience in mission critical datacenters.
