POSITION PURPOSE: Project Engineer – Commissioning of equipment and systems with Electrical focus. Must be a self-motivated, energetic professional, with experience and an understanding of building MEP systems design, construction, and commissioning of critical systems ranging in size, rating and complexity. The ideal candidate shall possess theoretical and practical knowledge in the commissioning, testing and troubleshooting of electrical systems and related controls. Candidates will be responsible for reviewing project information, executing daily field activities, maintaining project documentation, assisting the Project Manager, and providing guidance to junior engineers. This role requires technical competency and organizational skills and is expected to work well in a team environment.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Commission electrical distribution equipment and related controls, primarily in data center environments, including HV and MV primary distributionReview system designs for compliance with client facility goalsPrepare plans and procedures for execution of the commissioning processConduct commissioning activities from the Design Phase into the Occupation Phase, in accordance with client requirementsAttend factory testing of equipment and document procedures and resultsConduct physical testing of electrical equipment and measure results using test instrumentationFully document all field procedures, including results, issues, and observations using online applicationsReport on electrical system performance and make technical recommendations on issuesWork with project teams to coordinate and execute field activities.Review and comment on project documentation, plans, and schedulesSubmit and maintain daily commissioning reports as requiredAssist in the training of junior engineersRespond to customer inquiries in a manner that exceeds the customer’s expectationsEnsure compliance with company, client, and project safety requirementsKnowledgeable with common mechanical, and controls-related building equipment, including:Engine generatorsUninterruptible power supplies & battery systemsMedium and low-voltage electrical switchgearPLC controls and sequences of operationsAutomatic transfer switchesStatic transfer switchesPower distribution unitsBuswaysGrounding Systems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT    

Ability to walk up to 5 miles per day.Carry up to 50 lbs.Ability to wear required PPE daily.Travel nationwide 50% - 75% if not assigned locally.

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background

BSc/MSc in Electrical Engineering with 2 or more years with mission critical project experience, or relevant and applicable industry experience.

                                                     OR

Minimum of 4 or more years of experience as a commissioner with mission critical project experience, or relevant and applicable industry experience. 

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Experience in Mission Critical facility commissioning essentialOrganized, detail-oriented, analytical, proactive, problem solverGood communication and relationship skillsEffective written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work with limited supervisionKnowledge & experience with ASHRAE commissioning guidelines preferredDistributed control system experience a plusReasonable understanding of Buiding Management SystemsDeep understanding and application of test instrumentationTeam player and a “client-first” mentality. 

Required Certification / Licenses / Training

Professional Engineers License and a Commissioning certification a plus but not required.
