Job Summary
The Department of Radiology is looking for a Data Engineer to join their Research team. Will be responsible for developing advanced diagnostic image reconstruction software, more specifically, advanced software for Magnetic Resonance image generation and motion compensation.
Qualifications
The Data Engineer will be responsible for developing advanced diagnostic image reconstruction software, more specifically, advanced software for Magnetic Resonance image generation and motion compensation. Such developments include guiding hardware selection/purchase, setting up said computer equipment with the needed libraries and software environments, developing new software tailored to the needs of specific projects, documenting the methods and procedures used as part of these developments, correcting and validating the software being developed, and creating quality-assurance tests that evaluate the performance and accuracy of the new software. Although not directly related to programming skills, some degree of past experience in the medical field, especially as it relates to patient care, would be considered important, to help ensure the creation of software that remains well-grounded in practical needs and directly relevant to clinical objectives
Essential Functions (Key Roles & Responsibilities)
To understand the projects’ needs, and to design, develop and then validate new software to meet these needs.
To analyze and help fill computer hardware requirements associated with the needed software developments.
To optimize software performance to achieve levels compatible with clinical objectives.
To write diagnostic software to help test and ensure the performance and accuracy of all software solutions developed here.
To contribute detailed analyses and diagrams as needed for manuscript preparation and grant submissions.
To perform all duties related to onboarding and to maintaining workplace compliance/employability.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelors required. Computer Science highly preferred.
A Master’s degree in a field related to science and engineering.
Experience in advanced MR image reconstruction software developments is considered essential.
Work Experience
Experience in advanced MR imaging reconstruction > 2 yrs Required
Experience in the medical field and patient care > 1 yr Preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficient in programming languages such as Python, Matlab, C++, and AI frameworks like PyTorch.
Proficient in GPU and CPU multi-threaded programming.
Proficient with the Linux, Windows and Mac operating systems.
Good knowledge and comfort level with some of the main available MR image reconstruction and analysis packages, such as BART, XD-GRASP, SigPy, and FreeSurfer.
A high level of attention to detail, and good communication skills especially as they relate to documentation.
