Job Description

Data Engineer (SS&C Technologies, Inc.; San Francisco, CA): The Data Engineer will: Create a leading cloud platform with the latest big data, cloud native and machine learning technologies. Build and implement models in a production environment for a revenue-driving product. Create and maintain overall optimal data pipeline architecture. Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.

Manage data migrations/conversions and troubleshooting data processing issues. Create the pipeline for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from a wide variety of data sources. Build machine learning functions to help with data automation and data preparation. Work closely with analytics engineer and data warehouse engineers to build analytics tools and dashboards that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and other key business performance metrics. Create data tools for analytics and data scientist team members that assist in building and optimizing our product into an innovative industry leader. Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems. Discover more innovative machine learning solutions that can drive business values. Salary: $81,536 - $150,000 per year.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Business Analytics, or a related field plus 1 year of experience in a data engineering role or in any occupation in which the required experience is gained.

Must have: Strong knowledge of Spark, Hadoop, or Cloudera. Proven ability transforming data, developing data structures, building a metadata store, and setting up a data pipeline or data workflows. 1 year of experience getting data through API calls or scripting languages, (ex. python, Node.js, Java, C#, Scala, etc.) Strong software engineering best practices with git and version control systems. Knowledge of one of the major business intelligence vendors, such as Tableau, Power BI, Quick Sight, Qlik, Sisense, Domo, or Looker.

Solid communication skills to explain complex data pipelines to both technical and non- technical people. Excellent writing and documenting skills.
