Data Engineer
Description We are looking for a Data Engineer for one of our clients in Chicago. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and optimizing data systems to support trading operations. You will be working in a dynamic environment, collaborating across departments to ensure efficient data flows, data integrity, and performance improvements. Responsibilities: • Design and develop scalable, high-performance data systems to support trading and quantitative analysis. • Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries to ensure efficient data retrieval and storage. • Utilize Python and Pandas for data manipulation, automation, and analytics in support of trading systems. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including traders, quants, and other developers, to gather data requirements and implement solutions. • Implement database administration tasks including backups, performance tuning, and system monitoring on both Linux and Windows servers. • Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with industry standards and best practices. • Identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks and optimize database structure for high-traffic, low-latency trading environments. • Write clear documentation to maintain transparency and consistency in data processes and systems. • Leverage cloud technologies, database objects, Informatica, and other skills to enhance database development and management. • Create dashboards and utilize business intelligence (BI) tools to provide insights from various data sources. Requirements • In-depth understanding of data management (e.g., permissions, recovery, security, and monitoring) • Knowledge of software development and user interface web applications • Hands-on experience with SQL/Database tools (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Informatica, MapR) • Familiarity with modern frameworks and design patterns • Knowledge of Agile methodologies • Proficient understanding of Cloud Technologies • Skills in creating dashboards and Business Intelligence (BI) tools • Familiarity with AB Testing • Ability to comprehend and process Business Requirement Documents • Experience with various data sources • Excellent analytical and organization skills • An ability to understand front-end user requirements and a problem-solving attitude • Effective verbal and written communication skills • A degree in Computer Science or relevant field Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.® Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
