Our work depends on a **Data Engineer** to support or EPA customer in improving environmental quality and public health outcomes vast amounts of data. They must also support EPA in making its data available to the states, tribes, territories, the regulated community, environmental advocacy groups and the public. High level capabilities include building and supporting data analysis activities within a data platform for user with high-end analytical needs, support data flows / data pipelines, Extract, Transfer and Load (ETL/ELT) and orchestration, data lake / data warehousing, geospatial analysis and services, big data query and analysis, and support for stakeholder activities using popular languages, tools, packages, and Artificial Intelligence/machine learning frameworks within on Prem or Cloud environments. **HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT:** + Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role + Creates and maintains optimal data pipeline architecture + Develops and conducts tests to ensure data solutions meet documented user requirements + Analyzes IT environments to identify and assess critical capabilities and recommend solutions to problems of high complexity + Collaborates with data science team to transform data and integrate algorithms and models into automated processes + Performs additional duties as assigned + Works with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to assist with datarelated technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs + May coach and review the work of less-experienced professionals + Develops technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity **WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:** **Education:** + Master’s degree or equivalent experience **Required Qualifications:** + 8+ years of related experience **Required Technical Skills:** + Build and support data analysis activities within a data platform for user with high-end analytical needs, support data flows / data pipelines, Extract, Transfer and Load (ETL/ELT) and orchestration, data lake / data warehousing, geospatial analysis and services, big data query and analysis, and support for stakeholder activities using popular languages, tools, packages, and Artificial Intelligence/machine learning frameworks within on Prem or Cloud environments + Works independently under limited supervision **Recommended Skills and Abilities:** + Effective communication skills + Analytical skills **Location:** + DC metro area preferred but remote applicants considered. Team members living in the DC metro need to travel to client sites at the discretion of the government lead. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
