Our work depends on a Data Engineer to support or EPA customer in improving environmental quality and public health outcomes vast amounts of data. They must also support EPA in making its data available to the states, tribes, territories, the regulated community, environmental advocacy groups and the public. High level capabilities include building and supporting data analysis activities within a data platform for user with high-end analytical needs, support data flows / data pipelines, Extract, Transfer and Load (ETL/ELT) and orchestration, data lake / data warehousing, geospatial analysis and services, big data query and analysis, and support for stakeholder activities using popular languages, tools, packages, and Artificial Intelligence/machine learning frameworks within on Prem or Cloud environments.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT: 

Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership roleCreates and maintains optimal data pipeline architectureDevelops and conducts tests to ensure data solutions meet documented user requirementsAnalyzes IT environments to identify and assess critical capabilities and recommend solutions to problems of high complexityCollaborates with data science team to transform data and integrate algorithms and models into automated processesPerforms additional duties as assignedWorks with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to assist with datarelated technical issues and support their data infrastructure needsMay coach and review the work of less-experienced professionalsDevelops technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education:

Master’s degree or equivalent experience

Required Qualifications:

8+ years of related experience

Required Technical Skills:

Build and support data analysis activities within a data platform for user with high-end analytical needs, support data flows / data pipelines, Extract, Transfer and Load (ETL/ELT) and orchestration, data lake / data warehousing, geospatial analysis and services, big data query and analysis, and support for stakeholder activities using popular languages, tools, packages, and Artificial Intelligence/machine learning frameworks within on Prem or Cloud environments

Works independently under limited supervision

Location:

DC metro area preferred but remote applicants considered. Team members living in the DC metro need to travel to client sites at the discretion of the government lead. The Government site is in Washington, DC.
