Position Summary...Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs; and building commitment for perspectives and rationales. Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities. Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans; using the Open Door Policy; and demonstrating and assisting others with how to apply these in executing business processes and practices.

Sam's Club team at Walmart Global Tech, Bengaluru, is focused on improving Sam's Club member experience across both physical & digital and make Clubs the most exciting place to shop. We are accountable & responsible for number of critical eCommerce systems such as Cart & Checkout, Inventory Management & Sourcing Optimizations, Order Fulfillment & Returns experiences, Digital Marketing & Pharmacy refills. We are growing and establishing Innovation Labs in India where the best & brightest engineers would be working alongside our teams in USA to further use technology to make such member experiences friction free.

About Team:

This position is for the Data Engineering & Governance Team at Sam's Club, Bangalore


What you'll do:

At Sam’s Club in Walmart Global Tech, Bangalore you will work in small team of talented engineers to build robust, distributed and scalable applications. Be given the freedom to try new things and prove the value of your own ideas and innovations and own them all the way to production. You main responsibilities includes:

Code and develop interactive, user-friendly applications using the latest frameworks which are open source.

Design, code, unit test, write integration test, review peer code and deploy cutting edge solutions at scale, impacting millions of customers worldwide.

Interact with different engineering teams across geographies to leverage their expertise and solution to build world class product.

Engage with Product Management and Business to understand the requirement, set priorities and deliver awesome products.

Ensure business needs are being met by building software product using best practices.

Participate in internal Hackathons and innovation challenges.

Must be able to work effectively in both team settings and individually.

Communicate and collaborate with external teams and stakeholders.


What you'll bring:

Mandatory skillset

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field

3 to 6 years of total experience in developing Enterprise scale applications

Strong hands-on coding experience in Spark, Python/Scala

Strong computer science fundamentals: Data Structure and Algorithms

Strong experience in Building Data Pipelines, Data Migration, Streaming Pipelines

Strong understanding of different storage systems like MySQL, Big Query, Databricks, Big Lake, Kafka, Pub Sub

Expertise in writing complex, highly optimized SQL queries across large data sets

Working experience in GCP/Azure/AWS cloud platforms

Must be able to work effectively in a team setting as well as individually.

Ability to communicate and collaborate with external teams and stakeholders.

Must have growth mindset to learn and contribute across different modules or services.

Desirable skillset

Big data development experience for large enterprise

Architecture and Design understanding for building enterprise scale product with focus on scalability, low-latency, and fault-tolerance

Experience in building streaming pipeline using spark streaming, Kafka/event hub or similar

Working experience with data ware house like Big Query, AWS Redshift

Delivering high quality data solutions that are testable and adhere to SLAs

Working knowledge of job scheduling tools like Airflow etc.

Knowledge of Open Source Tools – Kubernetes, Kafka, Elastic Search, Kibana, AI/ML exposure
