Summary:

Vighter is seeking to hire a Data Engineer in San Antonio, TX. Data Engineers play a crucial role in making data accessible and usable, enabling data scientists and analysts to derive insights and make data-driven decisions. Vighter’s Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and managing systems and infrastructure that allow organizations to collect, store, process, and analyze large volumes of data. The role typically involves collaboration with data scientists, data analysts, and software engineers to ensure that data is accessible, reliable, and usable.

Principle Accountabilities:

Building and maintaining data pipelines to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from multiple sources to data warehouses, lakes, or other storage systems. Automating data workflows to streamline data processing and ensure real-time or batch data availability. Optimizing pipelines for performance, scalability, and fault tolerance. Integrating data from various sources, including databases, APIs, cloud platforms, and third-party systems. Ensuring data consistency and integrity when pulling data from diverse sources. Transforming and cleaning data for analysis, ensuring it is structured, accurate, and standardized. Designing and managing databases to store large-scale datasets. Monitoring and optimizing database performance for high-speed queries and transactions. Ensuring data security and compliance with data governance policies. Designing scalable and efficient data architectures that meet the needs of the organization and its data users. Selecting appropriate data storage solutions, whether on-premises or in the cloud (e.g., Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage, Hadoop, etc.). Designing data models that can support analytics, reporting, and machine learning. Implementing data validation and quality checks to ensure that the data is accurate, complete, and consistent. Monitoring data quality and proactively identifying and resolving issues. Developing and maintaining data quality dashboards for continuous monitoring. Collaborating with data scientists and analysts to understand data needs and ensuring that data is available and accessible for analysis. Working with software engineers to integrate data solutions with existing systems. Communicating with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into data solutions. Optimizing data processing workflows to reduce latency and improve throughput. Fine-tuning query performance and database indexing. Configuring cloud data services, such as managed databases, serverless processing, and big data analytics tools. Scaling infrastructure to handle increased data loads efficiently. Implementing security measures to protect sensitive data, including encryption, access control, and monitoring. Ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA). Documenting data access policies and maintaining audit logs. Monitoring data pipelines and infrastructure to ensure smooth and continuous data flow. Troubleshooting data-related issues and resolving bottlenecks or failures in a timely manner. Proactively identifying risks to data operations and addressing them before they affect the business. Evaluating and adopting new technologies to improve data engineering processes (e.g., new ETL frameworks, data warehouses, or machine learning platforms). Staying updated with industry trends in big data technologies and best practices. Creating and maintaining documentation for data pipelines, architecture, and data processing workflows. Providing training and support to other team members or departments on data systems and best practices. Optimizing data engineering processes for better performance, cost efficiency, and scalability. Identifying automation opportunities to reduce manual interventions in data processing. Knowledge and Skills:

Must have exceptional customer service skills. Employees shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the job requirements, including ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other related field is required.

Qualifications:

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in mobile applications and/or game and app development. Proficiency in popular coding languages including Python, Java and C++ and frameworks or systems such as AngularjS and Git. Excellent knowledge of the software development life cycle. Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). Strong problem-solving and communication skills. Knowledge of Object-Relational Mapping frameworks. Experience with Agile and Scrum development methodologies. Ability to learn quickly and work independently or as part of a team. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to multitask required, must be detail oriented. Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, (i.e., Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and Google Workspace.

Duty Hours / On-call Requirements:

Generally speaking, the corporate office is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; however, during times of rapid mobilization, hours may be extended to include days, nights, weekends and holidays. The are opportunities across a multitude of locations and shifts. Location: Vighter Corporate HQs, San Antonio, TX Supportive team of healthcare professionals and administrative staff. Opportunity to work with diverse populations, including immigration and asylum personnel and underserved or asylum communities.

Travel:

As required to satisfy the contractual obligations. Commute is non-compensatory. All official travel is government-funded.

Physical Requirements:
