GDIT is seeking a Data Engineer Senior to support its Technology Shared Services (TSS) Data and Analytics organization. HOW A DATA ENGINEER SENIOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Responsible for the development, customization, and maintenance of public-facing web services, for the purpose of providing system health, system usage, and system utilization metrics to management, users, and stakeholders.Builds and manages complex Tableau reports and drill downs.Responsible for data migrations, data modeling, and creating schema.Provides expert-level design and development of relational databases.Designs, implements, and maintains data pipelines to perform extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from sources to destinations.Builds and manages cloud-native data architectures in AWS and Azure.Identifies and directs information needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities.Leads new data development ensuring consistency and integration with existing data warehouse structure.Reviews business requests for data and data usage, researches data sources for new and better data feeds.Maintains comprehensive documentation on data processes, pipelines, and architecture for knowledge sharing and collaboration.Leads continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality, including performing proactive maintenance such as ensuring continued space availability, monitoring activity, and documenting problems, changes, and solutions.Assignments may include design of data dictionaries, database structure and layout, installing, upgrading, and managing database applications.Presents insights to both technical and non-technical team members and stakeholders, assisting in making informed, data-driven decisions.Collaborates with different teams to understand their data needs and create solutions that solve problems and streamline workflows.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

BA/BS and 5+ years of relevant experience or equivalent years of experienceMust have in-depth knowledge of multiple freeware relational databases (i.e. MySQL, MariaDB, Etc.), custom database creation and management, the development of automated scripts and processes for gathering and populating data, and the ability to create customized database queries.Must have fluency (i.e. SME) in developing complex Tableau reports and drill downs within the reports to underlying supporting data.Must have fluency with Linux, command line tools, and shell scripting for automated data extraction, transformation, and loading from diverse sourcExperience in using multiple tools (i.e. both API and non-API) and approaches to perform database analytics and data structure alignment.Proficient in database administration and Structured Query Language (SQL).Ability to understand and discuss complex data structures designs to be utilized or reported.Experienced in data modeling and data normalization techniques.Experienced in different data structures, including relational databases, semi-structured, and object stores.Experienced in database migrations, including homogenous and heterogenous and on-prem and cloud.Proficient in Python to perform data analysis and engineering tasks.Skilled in programming languages like Python, R, SQL, and experience in working with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, and Grafana.Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to present complex data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.Good team player, able to manage multiple assignments, and adapt to changing client needs.

AWS Certified Solutions Architect AssociateCompTIA Security+Azure FundamentalsAzure Data FundamentalsKnowledge of ITIL frameworkKnowledge of Agile methodologyExperienced in working in AWS with AWS data and analytics services, such as RDS, DynamoDB, Redshift, Aurora, S3, and Database Migration Service (DMS).Demonstrated experience consulting with internal and external customers to understand business needs and make recommendations.Previous experience in the defense or government sectorFamiliarity with cloud services: AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, etc.) and big data tools is plus.Experience in optimization algorithms and natural language processing is a plus.Data science and cloud certifications are a plus (Certified Data Scientist (CDS), AWS Certified Machine Learning - Specialty, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Scientist Associate, IBM Data Science Professional)
