Data Engineering Intern
Haymarket Media, Inc. is seeking a Data Engineering Intern to join the Web Development team. This position is located in our NYC office, with three days on-site (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and a team flex day) and two days remote.
Job Overview:
We are looking for a Data Engineer Intern to join our team and contribute to enhance our Data Warehouse infrastructure. As part of a talented and dynamic team, you will play a key role in areas like data integration, data structuring and report automation. As our business grows, we are looking for an organized, customer-focused, and data-driven intern who can help shape and influence our long-term data roadmap.
Responsibilities:
Gain hands–on experience applying data engineering principles to solve real-world business problems.
Build data products that address high impact business questions.
Collaborate closely with data engineering to complete and present the final projects.
Work effectively in a team environment that values a unique company culture.
Skills and Requirements:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a technical field such as Computer Science, Engineering, or related disciplines.
Proficiency in at least one major programming language (e.g. Python).
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are crucial.
Basic understanding of data modeling and SQL.
Familiarity with distributed systems, data warehousing, and data integration (ETL/ELT) concepts.
Qualifications include:
Understanding of data warehousing concepts (such as dimensions, measures and KPIs).
Ability to write moderately complex queries using SQL (any variant).
Familiarity with cloud services such as AWS and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Programming Languages: SQL, Java, Python.
Understanding of Agile methodologies.
Passion for data analysis and a strong interest in learning and exploring new technologies.
What We Offer:
Location: NYC/Remote
Salary: $16.50/hr.
Start Date/ Duration: June 16, 2025 to August 15, 2025 (9 weeks)
Schedule: 32 hours a week; Hybrid; Summer Fridays
