_This role follows a hybrid work schedule; offering the flexibility to work remotely two days a week, while providing the opportunity for onsite and in person collaboration the other three days._

_The data governance team plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability of the bank’s highest priority data. The Data Management Lead (Data Governance) will be responsible for developing and monitoring policies and standards that are the foundation of our data governance program. In this role, you will collaborate across a broad array of business units, engage in the solving of complex issues, and help drive accountability to the bank’s data principles. Your work will enable the bank to scale enhancements to our governance processes that drive the bank’s data strategy and vision._
OVERVIEW:
Assists with application of data governance capabilities across the bank by leading the management, implementation, and monitoring of enterprise data policies and standards. Assists with the application of the data strategy and vision through the implementation of governance processes across the bank’s business units. Collaborates with team members and business stakeholders to ensure effective data management practices. Mentors junior team members.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Assist in establishing guardrails, including the design of specific policies, standards, and practices, as well as monitoring processes and programs that advance enterprise data management capabilities.
+ Implement data governance capabilities, interpreting design guidance to contribute to effective compliance, monitoring, and escalation processes.
+ Monitor and report on process efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance of data governance processes.
+ Support the socialization of data governance practices across the enterprise.
+ Work with team leadership to develop new data governance approaches and provide initial assessment of how these approaches will be adapted based on the needs of the business.
+ Provide input on the selection and use of data governance tools.
+ Configure, deploy, and utilize these tools to support team objectives.
+ Monitor usage of and compliance with data governance tools across the enterprise, ensuring adherence to established standards.
+ Contribute to optimizing tool performance and resolving any issues.
+ Review own work and the work of other analysts to ensure it is efficient, accurate, and using best practices.
+ Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
+ Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
+ Complete other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
+ Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years higher education and/ or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years related experience
+ Experience developing and implementing data management, governance, or risk management policy, standards, and processes with limited oversight
+ Intermediate understanding of data management concepts, terminology, roles, and responsibilities. Experience in developing and implementing data management capabilities with oversight.
+ Advanced proficiency in at least one database management software, business intelligence tool, or programming language (ex. Databricks, Informatica, Jupyter Notebook, PowerApps, PowerBI, Python, R, SAS, Tableau)
+ Experience operating within cross-functional team and engaging with enterprise-wide programs, influencing outcomes across an organization.
M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $107,656.56 - $179,427.60 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
