The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Dell Medical School is seeking a Data Management Technician, CPAN/PeriPAN. This position will work as a part of an interdisciplinary, team-based program that cares for patients enrolled in The Child Psychiatry Access Network (CPAN) and the Perinatal Psychiatry Access Network (PeriPAN) programs. These interdisciplinary clinical services programs intended to offer primary care clinic providers and OBGYNs prompt access to on-call psychiatrists to provide expertise in assessment, treatment, and referrals for pediatric and/or perinatal patients identified as having a mental health challenge.
This is a state funded position sponsored by the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium (TCMHCC). TCMHCC was created by the 86th Texas Legislature to leverage the expertise and capacity of the health-related institutions of higher education to address urgent mental health challenges and improve the mental health care system in this state in relation to children, adolescents, and perinatal women.
This position has an end date of 8/31/2025, but may be renewable based upon availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward goals.
Purpose
The Data Management Technician, CPAN/PeriPAN will implement data management strategies to support successful implementation, evaluation, and scale of high-stakes behavioral health programs serving students, families, schools, and medical providers across Central Texas.
Responsibilities
Lead discussions concerning data updates and data management processes with various audiences. Regularly collaborate with team members to identify and fulfill data needs. Recommend data-driven solutions to problem solve, and present to leadership and other stakeholders in a variety of settings, including weekly meetings, and quarterly reports.
Develop procedures and workflows regarding data. Collect program data generated through a variety of sources, and ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness in all internal records. Work with Electronic Health Record and related data systems, including Trayt, Athena, 8x8, Welnity, and Salesforce. Compile, clean, and manage data across multiple platforms, using tools including Google Sheets, MS Excel, and Smartsheet. Adhere to and apply appropriate data privacy and security measures, including user privileges, supply data on a regular basis to maintain an updated data dashboard, and manage data access permissions for the data dashboard, using MS PowerBI. Create tables, graphs, charts, and other visualizations to display data, and manage MS PowerBI dashboards on a regular basis. Identify the dashboard’s audience, metrics and analyses of interest. Translate data and findings to a non-technical audience.
Support the creation and timely submission of data reports, visualizations, and related documents, including data reports, by ensuring quality control of report metrics and underlying data sets.
Prepare and manipulate data to perform analyses, create visualizations, and present findings on monthly, quarterly, and annual bases to a variety of audiences and stakeholders.
Develop, troubleshoot, and streamline data operations, data entry workflows, and spreadsheet processes. Conduct data validation, as needed. Fulfill internal and external data requests. Fulfill recurrent and ad hoc data requests, as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree and at least two (2) years professional experience in data management and of experience working with large datasets. Advanced proficiency in at least one data management platform, e.g., MS Excel. Experience with Google Sheet and Excel functions and formulas, e.g. XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, IF functions. Experience creating and maintaining Pivot Tables. Working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite (e.g. MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and all related web-based programs). Experience with adherence to and implementation of data management and security policies and procedures. Experience with quantitative data analysis and data visualizations. Experience with creating presentations and presenting to a variety of audiences and stakeholders. Ability to communicate with others in a clear, understandable, and professional manner on the phone and in person, as well as demonstrated use of superior written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact with peers and program partners in a manner that represents the Dell Medical School positively. Sound judgment in decision-making. Ability to maintain regular, reliable and punctual attendance. Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable to change. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook, and web-based programs.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred QualificationsExperience in Data Science, Mathematics, Information Sciences, Public Health, or related research- or data-centered field. Experience with Apps Script/JavaScript. Experience with formal data reporting, e.g. presenting scientific findings to a non-technical audience. Proficiency in data dashboard tools, e.g. MS PowerBI.
Salary Range$45,000+ depending on qualifications
