Position Description
This is a non-Civil Service position in the Office of Family Safety. The Data Manager at the Office of Family Safety will lead data analysis and reporting efforts, supporting the department’s mission to enhance victim safety, improve service delivery, and convey the impact of the work of both Family Justice Centers’ in Nashville. This role involves tracking and analyzing key performance metrics—such as response times, resource utilization, victim outcomes, and satisfaction levels—to drive continuous improvement.
Supervision Exercised/Supervision Received
The Data Manager is responsible for maximizing the identification and collection of departmental performance and will identify problems relating to user input and work across teams to implement solutions. This position works under direct supervision of the Director of Education.
Working Environment/Physical Demands
The work environment involves high exposure to trauma of victims of interpersonal violence at risk for homicide. The risk of vicarious trauma is high. The office environment is favorable and only normal safety precautions typical of offices, meeting and training rooms, etc.

Typical Duties
+ Investment in the mission of the department
+ Quality Assurance & Data Management:
+ Develop and maintain quality assurance strategies for OFS’s database to ensure timely, accurate, and complete data on client services, outcomes, and operational metrics. Continuously track and analyze key performance metrics, including response times, client outcomes, client satisfaction, and resource utilization.
+ Establish data validation processes to ensure high data quality.
+ Issue Identification and Resolution:
+ Proactively identify performance bottlenecks, ineffective efforts, and anomalies through data analysis and monitoring.
+ Collaborate with database administrators and development teams to resolve performance issues and implement improvements.
+ Create and/or reinforce departmental policies ensuring data integrity and security.
+ Work across OFS teams to streamline data input and improve data quality.
+ Work closely with IT, database developers, and other departments as needed to ensure that database performance aligns with business needs and objectives.
+ Provide technical support and guidance on database use and performance issues.
+ Reporting and Analysis:
+ Develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate center performance to leadership, funders, and other stakeholders. Provide easily digestible monthly, quarterly, and annual data reports to support funding requirements, program evaluation, and strategic planning.
+ Track and analyze key performance indicators, including response times, resource utilization, client outcomes, and victim satisfaction to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
+ Collaboration and Capacity Building:
+ Provide training and support to staff on data collection protocols, reporting requirements, performance metrics, etc.
+ Act as a resource to other team members in understanding and utilizing data for program improvement.
+ Work with community and government partners to develop data-sharing agreements, ensuring comprehensive data collection and analysis across service providers.
+ Identify Emerging Issues:
+ Monitor data for trends and emerging issues related to victim safety, system response, and resource needs.
+ Collaborate with leadership to address gaps in services, inefficiencies, or potential risks to victim safety.
+ Assist leadership with regular assessments of service quality and outcomes to inform evidence-based program adjustments and policy recommendations.
+ Data-Driven Communication & Advocacy:
+ Use data to convey the value and impact of the Family Justice Center’s work, emphasizing client safety and outcomes.
+ Prepare presentations, summaries, and infographics to effectively communicate data insights to a range of audiences, including stakeholders, funders, and the public.
+ Partner with the center’s training and outreach teams to incorporate data into public-facing materials, education, and outreach efforts.
+ Compliance: Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., VAWA, VOCA, and FVPSA confidentiality requirements) and best-practice standards. Monitor and address data privacy and security concerns with staff and clients.
+ Project Management: Lead and manage data-related projects from inception to completion. Coordinate with stakeholders to gather requirements, set project goals, and deliver results on time and within budget.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, Information Management, Data Science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
+ Technical Skills - Proficiency in database management systems (e.g., SQL, Oracle, MySQL), data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Python, R), and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). Familiarity with data integration and ETL processes.
+ Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner.
+ Strong organizational skills
+ Proven experience in data management, database administration, or a similar role.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with complex data sets.
+ Experience dealing with private, confidential, and sensitive information.
+ High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data management and reporting.
+ Demonstrated ability and willingness to collaborate positively with individuals and groups with diverse perspectives.
+ Background check
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Thorough knowledge of the Davidson County court systems
+ Problem solver, highly efficient, and detail-oriented
+ Experience working on domestic violence, sexual assault or related issues.
+ Experience with data management and analytics, particularly Microsoft Access
+ Experience working in or with both non-profits and the criminal justice system.
+ Experience working with multidisciplinary teams/collaboratives.
+ Experience working under and reporting on grants.
+ Experience with data analysis and project management is highly desirable.
+ Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university strongly preferred.
