Data Modeler and Analytics Specialist - Federal Advisory

What You Will Do:

Interpret, analyze, and iterate on existing client data documentation such as ERD’s, data flow diagrams, data dictionaries, metadata schemas, data transfer control documents, etc

Autonomously generate clear, actionable data-centric documentation (see above) that enables self-guided implementation of new system and data asset enhancements

Guide development of and contribute to critical stage gate documentation, designed to meet client standards for migrating data into a unified data lake

Support data discovery exercises designed to isolate specific sets of data for migration and ETL jobs; complete essential documentation stemming from these exercises

Facilitate the planning and migration of data into client’s new data lake, including the design and application of best practices around ETL’s, data quality standards, metadata requirements, etc

Design, define requirements for, and test new data visualizations for the client’s public facing data portal

Translate end user needs relating to exploration and analysis of collection level data sets into technical requirements for display data models, functional requirements for search, and impactful governance resources

Navigate and perform essential functions in client’s enterprise data governance tool

Prepare presentations that translate planning and delivery work into digestible client insights.  Design and present materials for both internal and client meetings

Understand, support, and drive the planning and documentation of business requirements into clear hand-off documents for the implementation vendor

Understand and support planning of data standards to ensure consistency and quality in client data sets

Interface with client leadership and support meetings with stakeholders, defining their data-centric needs to drive towards future data governance solutions

Work hand-in-hand with client IT resources to plan data centric solutions

Act as an Education data subject matter expert, applying that expertise to data-centric activities such as analytics, data management, systems documentation analysis, data processing, and ETL operations

Build out data lineages and data flows as a key governance resource

Review and support the development of data definition documents key to the preparation, execution, and QA testing for data migration jobs

Review the substance and format of Jira tickets and work with implementation vendor as necessary to ensure that key functionality gets implemented to client requirements and program objectives are met 

Track implementation vendor Jira tickets throughout the agile delivery lifecycle, from conception to testing 

Support administrative activities and perform segment engagement tasks for the team 

What You Will Need:

Bachelor's degree is required

Minimum THREE (3) years of experience synthesizing client needs into business requirements

Develop MS Office resources including PowerPoints, Word documents, and Excel spreadsheets 

Ability to work overtime required on occasion

Excellent communication and collaboration skills within a cross functional team

Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-fluent audiences and support client learning

What Would Be Nice To Have:

Exercise an educational background in data-centric fields such as analytics, data management, systems analysis, data processing and operations

Experience with agile program/project management 

Experience working directly with client stakeholders 

Experience with Jira
