Summary
Performs casefinding, abstracting and follow-up utilizing cancer coding principles from FORDS, ICD-O, Collaborative Staging, AJCC Staging, Multiple Primary and Histology Coding Rules, and State cancer reporting guidelines. Assists in training new staff. Coordinates Cancer Conference/Tumor Board and performs other duties as assigned. Remains current in all cancer coding principles, as well as knowledgeable in cancer program accreditation standards. Must possess attention to detail, be organized and able to multi-task, demonstrate time management skills, and have strong verbal and written communication skills.

Requirements, Preferences and Experience
Education
Preferred: NCRA-Approved Associates Degree in Cancer Information Management OR NCRA-Approved Formal Education Program in Cancer Information Management and an Associates Degree OR An Associates Degree in an Allied Health field with completion of anatomy and/or physiology and/or license/certification in an Allied Health Field as approved by NCRA for CTR certification
Minimum: Skill in communicating clearly and effectively using standard English in written, oral and verbal format to achieve high productivity and efficiency. Skill to write legibly and record information accurately as necessary to perform job duties.
Experience
Preferred: Two years of Cancer Information Management experience
Minimum: 160 hours if new graduate of an NCRA-accredited Cancer Information Program OR one year of Cancer Information Management experience.
Licensure, Registration, Certification
Minimum: CTRS
Special Skills
Preferred: Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Power Point
Minimum: Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Power Point
Training
Preferred: Additional training in NAACCR web modules, or other cancer information management training after acquiring CTR.
