Overview CORT is seeking a full-time Compliance Specialist with a demonstrated passion for data privacy to join our Audit and Compliance Team. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing and IT, to ensure CORT’s continued compliance with U.S. and international data privacy laws. Our ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong interest in and working knowledge of data privacy laws, has excellent oral and written communications skills, and works equally well independently and collaboratively on projects that require close attention to detail and an innovative approach to problem solving. The candidate will also be tasked with key Internal Audit responsibilities. This is a non-exempt, hourly position that is remote and performed from a home office but with the opportunity for some travel within the United States. Conduct regular assessments of business operations from a data privacy lens. Work collaboratively to develop and implement data privacy policies and procedures. Provide training and guidance to staff on data privacy best practices. Respond to data subject access requests. Review Data Privacy Agreements (DPAs). Explain data privacy and technology concepts to non-technical and non-legal segments of the business. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, particularly IT, to ensure data privacy compliance in all business operations. Assist with third-party risk management assessments and SOC report reviews. Stay up-to-date with changes in data privacy laws and regulations. Examine expense claims and purchase card activities to determine the extent of compliance with company policies and procedures. Assist with the preparation of written reports of audit results and the follow up of recommendations, through remediation plans launched through the Auditboard software tool. Assist Internal Audit management with administrative responsibilities and special projects as needed, such as: inventories, investigations, risk assessments, etc. Qualifications 2+ years of experience in compliance, data privacy, or a related role. Strong understanding of data privacy laws and regulations. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Relevant certifications (e.g., CIPP, CIPM) are a plus. Familiarity with OneTrust, cookie consent management, and data mapping is a plus. Understanding of IT systems is a plus. Working knowledge of Auditboard is a plus.
