Key responsibilities
The Data Quality Specialist plays a pivotal role in unlocking the power of our data. He / She collaborates with key stakeholders across the organization to gather their needs, then dive deep into various data sources to extract valuable insights that inform business decisions across all LoBs and Business Functions.
This person will support the Data Quality Manager in the remediation process by analyzing, collecting, cleaning, and interpreting data sets to answer questions or solve problems related to Data Quality. The role of the Data Quality Specialist in collaborating with data stewards is essential to define data ownership and accountability for Critical Data Elements.
Through this role, you will have the main following responsabilities:
Monitoring Critical Data Elements (CDEs): Develop and implement automated processes to monitor the quality of CDEs in real-time (or near real-time). This could involve setting up thresholds and alerts for metrics like data completeness, accuracy, consistency, and timeliness. Regularly analyze trends in CDE quality metrics to identify potential issues and proactively address them before they impact downstream processes. Investigate and troubleshoot root causes of CDE quality issues, working with data owners and stakeholders to resolve them.
Data Profiling: Conduct data profiling exercises on new and existing data sets to understand their structure, content, and quality characteristics. This includes analyzing data types, value distributions, presence of missing values, outliers, and potential inconsistencies. Use data profiling insights to define data quality rules and identify potential areas of risk or non-compliance with regulations. Leverage data profiling techniques to identify hidden patterns, trends, and relationships within the data that can be used to improve business processes and inform decision making.
