Compensation

Compensation includes a base salary of $87,200.00 - $130,800.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Job Description

Cox Communications is seeking a Data Science Application Developer-II to join our Network Analytics Reliability Enablement Team (NARE). This role reports to the Manager of Data Science and will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of analytics applications for the Service Health Platform. As a Data Science Application Developer, you will bridge the gap between data science and application development by delivering scalable infrastructure for deploying data science models and building tools to facilitate model integration across the organization. This role is crucial for enhancing platform infrastructure, building integration layers, and developing solutions within the AWS ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

Application Development: Design and build scalable, high-performance analytics applications following best practices for software development, testing, and deployment.

Cloud Solutions: Architect and implement solutions within AWS, ensuring applications are maintainable and scalable.

Continuous Improvement: Actively contributes to code quality and best practices by implementing unit testing, end-to-end testing, and A/B testing strategies.

Integration: Build systems that integrate data science models into the Service Health Platform, ensuring smooth operation and easy scalability.

Problem Solving: Use strong software development skills to tackle complex problems and design efficient solutions.

Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure applications meet user needs and align with project goals.

Big Data: Manage large datasets and simplify complex data systems for seamless integration and use across the organization.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 2+ years of experience in application development, or a master’s degree with up to 2 years of experience, or 14+ years of relevant experience.

Proficiency in Python, Java, or C#, with a focus on application development.

Experience building applications within AWS, using cloud-based tools and services for deployment and management.

Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Document DB, or Cassandra.

Strong software engineering skills, with a focus on creating robust, maintainable applications.

Familiarity with source code version control (e.g., Git, Bitbucket) and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins).

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred:

4+ years of software engineering experience, with a focus on application development.

Advanced knowledge of specific AWS services such as Lambda, Step Functions, CloudWatch, SQS, RDS, and Kubernetes.

Experience working with big data systems and developing applications to handle high data volumes.

Experience within the telecommunications or cable industry, or in consulting roles related to application development.

Familiarity with automated testing strategies for large-scale applications.
