Naval Enterprise and Sea Systems (NESS) is seeking a Data Science Intern who is highly motivated, creative and self-directed to help provide expertise and support to our sponsor and their mission. This position provides challenging opportunities to apply and expand one’s domain knowledge, creative problem-solving capabilities, systems engineering skills, and technical expertise  areas of interest include systems engineering, advanced analytics, operational experience, autonomous systems expertise/experience, data science, and independent evaluation. 

Job Responsibilities:

Data analysis and visualization Applied mathematics, statistics, and optimization Simulation and computational analytics Systems modeling and analysis Operational effectiveness and efficiency Knowledge discovery Next-gen data environments 

Basic Qualifications:

Must be a student enrolled full-time pursuing an accredited degree seeking program in Data Science or a related degree program and continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internshipUnderstanding of or experience with statistical software and data visualization tools such as Python or RSustained excellence in academic performance The ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Cearance

Preferred Qualifiations:

Experience having applied data science learning to an internship or research/lab positionDemonstrated interest in serving the public Proficiency in one or more of the following: Python (scikit-learn, NumPy, pandas, Jupyter), Scala/Java,  C/C++/C#, Objective C; database design & development (SQL, Neo4J, MongoDB); AWSDemonstrated interest in growing domain knowledge Demonstrated interest in working on a teamDOD Secret Clearance
