The Center of Excellence (CoE) in Data Science and Bioinformatics at LabCorp Information Technology department is seeking exceptional graduate-level students for our Advanced Data Science Internship program. This internship offers a challenging opportunity to apply advanced statistical, machine learning, and computational skills to solve complex healthcare problems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and implement sophisticated machine learning and AI modelsDevelop and optimize novel bioinformatics algorithmsCollaborate on cutting-edge research projects in data science and bioinformaticsMinimum Education and Experience Required:
Pursuing an MS or Ph.D. degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Computational Biology, or related fieldPreferred Qualifications:
Experience with genomics or bioinformatics tools and techniquesFamiliarity with graph databases and natural language processingKnowledge of cloud technologies (e.g., AWS) and associated tools (S3, EC2, Lambda, Athena)Experience with both relational and non-relational databasesPublications or presentations in relevant fieldsSkills and Competencies:
Strong background in statistics, machine learning, and/or computational methodsAdvanced proficiency in Python or R, including object-oriented and functional programmingExperience with deep learning techniques (e.g., CNN, LSTM, RNN) and frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow)Solid understanding of evaluation techniques for supervised and unsupervised learningExpertise in data visualization and interpretationAbility to work independently and lead technical discussionsWorking Conditions:
Onsite/RemoteRegularly works with a computer for approximately 6-8 hours a dayMust be able to read and understand complex directions in a professional corporate environmentPay Range: $30 - $33 hourly
