Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE

To assist in developing tools and technologies that leverage data from a variety of sources to increase supply chain efficiencies and provide value to our customers.

MAJOR / KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Responsible for experimenting with and implementing machine learning techniques on internal/external customer projects

• Responsible for learning new data science techniques/programming languages and exploring their viability on current projects

• Will contribute to data science team discussions, providing insight as needed on current approaches and methods

MEASURES

• Successful application of data science principles

• Successful completion of projects

AUTHORITY / DECISION MAKING

• Data science model selection and implementation

• Working autonomously

Internal:  Other data scientists, data science manager, project stakeholders

External:  Project stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS

• BS degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems and/or equivalent formal training

• Proficient with machine learning and statistics

• Proficient with Python, deep learning frameworks, Spark

• Excellent communication skills         

Desirable Qualifications:

• 1-2 years work experience in data science position

• Proficient with Go, C/C++, other languages

• Proficient with cloud computing environments, Kubernetes, etc.

• Software development experience

EXPERIENCE

• Participated in numerous data science projects

• Utilized several data science methodologies

• Have worked autonomously and delivered results on schedule

• Have presented results to non-data scientist audience

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Strong programming skills (Python, R, etc.)

• Knowledge of major data science topics, models, and methods (from logistic regression to advanced neural networks)

• Strong analytical skills
