The Mission Solutions Business Area at Leidos has an opening for a Data Scientist in Reston, Virginia to support a fast-paced software development team working on projects critical to National Security. The primary focus of the group is reverse engineering Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) related installations.  Candidate must bring a creative, yet sound, approach to identifying and solving challenges, and have exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to thoroughness The successful candidate will have experience in statistical analysis, data ingestion/processing, and experience with methods/analytics development, to support our customer’s data analytics program. You will work as part of a team to support the verification and validation of computer assisted product development and to present the results to the customer.

Role and Responsibility:

The candidate shall perform the following as part of a larger team:

Build statistical models, test hypotheses, interpret, summarize, visualize, and succinctly report on data findingsPerform research on various data sources, to include unstructured data using quantitative and qualitative content analyticsConstruct and perform complex database search queries in multiple databases using SQL and API interfacesPerform web scraping and apply various techniques for processing unstructured data.  The Scientist will leverage automation and machine learning to manage data, predict scenarios and make recommendations.Contribute to building new analytical tools and packages across the enterprise and will be expected to collaborate with team members in a highly technical environmentLearn and leverage emerging technologies including AWS and GitExcellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to successfully brief and interact with personnel at all levels of experience, including Senior Officials

Requirements and Qualifications:

US Citizenship is requiredCandidate must possess an active TS/SCI, or a Top Secret clearance with a current SSBI, and be eligible to obtain a TS/SCI w/ poly level clearanceBS degree and 12+ years of prior relevant experience or MS with 10+ years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in a technical domainMust have a Data Science, Operations Research or related degreeExperience in lieu of degreeStrong experience with PythonExperience working with data manipulation, analytic/business insight tools, and data visualization experienceExperience constructing and performing complex database search queriesExperience/knowledge of computer science concepts, data architecture, and experience/knowledge of statisticsDemonstrated experience using statistical and machine learning techniques including supervised and unsupervised learning and natural language processingExperience/familiarity with frequentist statistics and probability including predicative modelingAbility to communicate technical findings to non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications:

Pay Range:Pay Range $126,100.00 - $227,950.00
