Summary About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the Strategic Systems Support Element, Alexandria, Virginia. Responsibilities Serve as the technical expert concerning data standards, engineering, needs, plans, situations, and problems throughout the full spectrum of iterative project or study life cycle. Serve as the Senior Data Scientist in the Data Integration Directorate, Strategic Systems Support Element (SSSE). Recommend ongoing improvements to scientific methods and algorithms that lead to findings. Develop processes regarding the capture, retention, and analysis of data, tracks metrics and trends. Work alongside directorate leadership, scientists, and developers, and suggests other methodologies and products of interest which may meet project objectives or improve project outcomes. Participate in meetings, conferences, briefings, and seminars related to data science planning, technologies, and support system concepts. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one (1) year of experience at the GG-13 grade level, or equivalent, which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Conducting studies, analyzing findings, and provide recommendations on advanced statistical and mathematical theories and techniques relating to data analysis. Providing recommendations to other governmental agencies and private industry data science representatives. Conducting briefings and/or seminars related to data science planning, technologies, and support systems concepts.
