Data Scientist
We are seeking a Data Scientist to support a defense contractor in Columbus, OH. The successful candidate will provide mathematical models and graphical analysis to a government customer, working alongside a team of software developers and other scientists.
Responsibilities
+ Serve as technical lead for a small team of data scientists in the execution of an annual quantitative risk assessment for CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives) terrorism attacks against the U.S. using existing software models and architecture.
+ Determine improvements and maintenance activities to improve the efficiency of the existing risk execution system/software.
+ Maintain detailed internal-facing documentation on the execution process and high-level client-facing documentation for the risk analysis/results.
+ Present risk results and modeling/data updates on an annual basis to clients and other external stakeholders.
+ Monitor task completion and communicate progress to the client on weekly teleconferences.
+ Write annual reports of methods used and results obtained.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s with 5+ years of experience OR Master's with 2+ years of experience OR PhD. in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or other scientific field.
+ Understanding of higher-level mathematics (e.g., calculus, differential equations, linear algebra).
+ At least one year of experience with project management or task leadership with proven ability to meet project deadlines on schedule and within budget.
+ Excellent communication and presentation skills of scientific, technical data to non-technical and semi-technical audiences.
+ Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD clearance.
Ideal Skills
+ At least 3 years of experience in modeling & simulation, statistical analysis, quantitative risk assessment, data science, systems engineering, or related field.
+ Knowledge of advanced statistics and/or probability.
+ Experience with data visualization techniques.
+ Experience in modeling & simulation on a government program.
+ Experience using object-oriented programming in C++, C#, Java, or similar to develop mathematical models.
+ Experience with advanced data analysis techniques, such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, or natural language processing.
Work Environment
Hybrid work schedule: in office Tuesday-Thursday, remote on Monday and Friday. Approximately 60% of the time is spent in the office.
Hours: you can choose to follow a 9/80 schedule, allowing for every other Friday off, or a standard 40-hour Monday to Friday schedule.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
