Our work depends on a Data Scientist Advisor joining our team to enhance USSOCOM’s ability to detect and mitigate threats in open-source software packages. In this role, you will directly assist the development of cutting-edge tools by analyzing datasets of code packages to help identify potential threat vectors and patterns indicative of malicious activities.
HOW A DATA SCIENTIST ADVISOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Performs scientific work associated with the analytical, statistical, and programming skills to collect, analyze, and interpret large data sets; develop data-driven solutions to difficult business challenges. Coordinate and work closely with other team members on feature engineering to develop meaningful features that enhance the accuracy of our threat detection models. Perform exploratory analysis on datasets derived from open-source software packages to identify patterns and anomalies that could indicate malicious intent. Engage in problem-solving discussions with team members, contributing your expertise to resolve challenges in data analysis and feature engineering. You will be expected to “roll up your sleeves” and generate tactical solutions to the analytic process of evaluating software code packages for use in sensitive environments. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing our ability to detect and mitigate threats in open-source software packages, ultimately helping to safeguard USSOCOM’s ecosystem.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Master's of Science in Data Science, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years of experience or equivalent years of experienceExperience in data science roles, with a focus on analyzing complex datasets and deriving actionable insights. Proficiency in Python for data analysis and model buildingExperience with libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn. Strong analytical skills to interpret complex datasets. Problem-solving skills to address novel challenges in threat detection. Excellent communication skills to convey findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.US Citizenship is requiredNICE TO HAVE:
Experience with statistical methods for pattern recognition, particularly in detecting subtle anomalies within large datasets.
