Trade Compliance Data Scientist

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Global Trade team at Applied! The Legal & Compliance Organization is looking for a mid-level Data Scientist to join the Global Trade team. This position is responsible for designing, creating, and maintaining regular, ad-hoc and automated reports, dashboards, presentations, and analysis to provide insights into the company’s overall Trade profile and Trade compliance initiatives.
This position requires strong visualization & design skills, analytic capabilities, technical prowess, communication skills, and creativity. Experience in Global Trade is a plus.
High Level Responsibilities:
Responsibilities for this position include data visualization, exploration and analysis of data solutions and reporting, and working with various internal stakeholders to identify relevant data and tools available. This position will also be responsible for developing and maintaining group presentations and dashboards supporting the different teams and strategic initiatives across our compliance and risk pillars. IT experience will be required to access and support disparate IT systems and assist legal personnel on a variety of technical issues.
Essential Duties
Design, develop, and maintain metrics, presentations, reports, analyses, and dashboards that will be used to drive key Trade decisions and ensure Trade Compliance.Elicit reporting and analysis requirements from the Trade team to deliver solutions.Create story boards, process flows, and sitemaps to illustrate design concepts.Develop visualizations to explain risks and showcase key data insights for stakeholders.Build data analytics algorithms and dashboards to identify events and users that may be indicative of policy non-compliance, trade issues, etc.Explore data to identify statistical relationships, trends, patterns, and anomalies.Organize and transform data into comprehensible, usable, and actionable information.Ensure the accuracy, timeliness and confidentiality of data sources and derived information.Develop and design presentations—primarily in PowerPoint—that advance key business objectives, convey trade status & concerns, and highlight key risk areas by telling the story through clean, concise, and well-organized slides.Distill clear messaging from the data and utilize smart visuals to effectively deliver insights.Develop and maintain customized templates and graphics to project a professional, consistent “look and feel” for the Trade team.Incorporate user feedback into layout changes and follow font, color, and image style guidelines.Educate and train the users on the supported sites, dashboards, and reports.Knowledge/Skills Abilities
This role requires the ability to gather reporting requirements, manage internal stakeholders, design & develop visuals, and analyze diverse data sources. The resulting analytics and visualizations will be used by executive-level decision makers to gain actionable insights. Success in this role requires both technical expertise to work with complex data sets and an interest and ability to collaborate with and take direction from colleagues and stakeholders with varying degrees of technical literacy.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and/or advanced degree in Data Science, Business Intelligence, or Computer Science, or similar field from an accredited universityExcellent data visualization skills and advanced PowerPoint presentation development skillsMust have strong User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) design skills.Experience with Tableau and Tableau PrepStrong attention to detail, passion for data accuracy, and high personal integrityExcellent communication skills:Clearly articulate and visually present complex data relationships and analysis results.Create concise diagrams, charts, and reports to communicate the findings to the target audience.Implement and document workflows & processes.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a global team.Capable of gaining the trust of legal and business stakeholders to achieve the desired objective.Past work within or as an partner/support to a Trade Compliance team is a benefit.Desired Qualifications:

$124,000.00 - $170,500.00The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
