**Where you’ll work:**
This is an onsite opportunity where you will report to the customer location in Port Hueneme, CA.
**An average day:**
As Data Services Expert, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of distributed relational databases, high performance computing (HPC) environments, big data analytics frameworks, and AI/ML solutions. Additionally, you will ensure optimal data architecture, performance, and scalability while adhering to the customer’s cybersecurity requirements, delivering advanced business intelligence and data-driven insights to meet organizational objectives. In this position you will:
+ Provide support in the development, deployment, and maintenance of backend applications, relational databases (e.g., MSSQL, Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instances), and associated business intelligence systems to ensure performance, scalability, and reliability.
+ Design, implement, and optimize high performance computing (HPC) solutions and big data analytics workflows to handle large datasets, advanced data processing, and computationally intensive tasks.
+ Deliver AI/ML solutions by employing techniques such as graph analysis, natural language processing, and large language modeling, ensuring alignment with stakeholder requirements and best practices.
+ Conduct end-to-end reporting and dashboard development, including advanced out-of-the-box visualizations, custom visualizations, queries, interactive connections, paginated reports, data refreshes, and data integration tasks.
+ Establish, document, and maintain robust backup and recovery processes, manage user rights and permissions, and oversee data quality assurance for non-referential data repositories.
+ Ensure all database server environments and cloud-based infrastructure meet security requirements and Navy cybersecurity standards, including full compliance with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs).
+ Monitor and maintain the cloud computing environment, proactively identifying potential issues; generate and implement resolution POA&Ms per the Command Change Management process, and document these in monthly CDRLs.
+ Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, conduct analysis, design solutions, develop prototypes, and carry out testing, integration, and deployment activities for business intelligence, data science, and analytics initiatives.
+ Optimize database and data processing architectures to support scalability, reliability, and efficient resource utilization, using best practices for indexing, query tuning, and workload balancing.
+ Provide timely and efficient data analytics services to the Command and business functions, including iterative refinement of reports/dashboards, ensuring each deliverable meets stakeholder specifications and user acceptance criteria.
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. In accordance with 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(2)(C) , Epsilon will not consider candidates for this position who do not meet the aforementioned conditions.
+ Minimum of five years in the development and deployment of distributed relational databases and associated Business Intelligence (BI) systems.
+ Minimum of five years of experience with the Microsoft SQL Server stack (MSSQL, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS).
+ Minimum of five years securing a SQL environment in accordance with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs).
+ Minimum of five years performing SQL Server configuration management, optimization, administration, and development in client/server architecture, business object modeling, and relational database design using MS SQL Server.
+ Minimum of three years of experience with Microsoft Power BI.
+ Must hold a IAT Level II certification CompTIA Security + Ce is the preferred certification
+ Proficiency in database performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization to ensure reliability and efficiency.
+ Experience with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instances) and maintaining compliance with Navy cybersecurity standards.
+ Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Experience with IBM Cognos and other On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) tools
+ Understanding of Navy Working Capital Fund (WCF) accounting principles and generation of reports / OLAP analysis from WCF funding and cost information
+ Experience leading and designing Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) based application
+ Experience in Navy Security and RMF requirements implementation and their impacts to overall software architecture
**Other:**
+ Must have an active Interim Secret or Secret Clearance
+ May be required to perform duties outside of standard hours of operation in order to support mission requirements, including planned and unplanned maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and upgrades.
+ Occasional Travel to other facility locations may be required
