Data Visualization & Analysis SME

Cloud Lake Technology is looking for a Data Visualization & Analysis SME. In this position you will perform data visualization and data analytics support for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Grant Programs Directorate (GPD) to include designing and creating visually informative information that will support storytelling through dashboards, infographics, and videos. All products shall comply with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Brand Identity Program as applicable. Products must be developed using existing approved software tools as identified in the FEMA Technical Reference Model (TRM).

Responsibilities

Drafts concept papers to include three options for a process and how to display data for FEMA review, feedback, and approval.

Develops primers for best practices on topics such as data collection, analytical methods, data visualization, complex event processing, business performance management (including performance measurement), predictive and prescriptive analytics, decision architecture, and executive reporting.

Maintains and updates the visual information work products on a regular and as needed basis as new data and analyses are available, and as new GPD requirements are provided.

Develops Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) use cases for topics such as anomaly detection and risk analyses.

Uploads raw and analyzed date to the visual information dashboard on a regular and as needed basis.

Works with FEMA GPD staff and end users across multiple business lines to clarify frequently required or requested information (e.g., funding by state or program, burn rates, or trends) and develop designs for reporting and visual information dashboard solutions.

Supports a data architecture that encompasses both legacy and contemporary database designs.

Visually display trends from a variety of data sources, including specific performance data on various grant portfolios financial data, and varying stakeholder audiences.

Must be willing and able to work within time constraints and meet deadlines consistently.

Must have experience successfully engaging and communicating with senior executives, other contractor personnel and peers within a fast-paced environment.

Must have solid oral and written communication skills in order to be successful in this role.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field is strongly preferred. In lieu of a degree five years of relevant experience may be substituted for the degree.

Well versed and practical experience with contemporary data tools to include:

Tableau

Python

Machine Learning Libraries in Python

Utilization and manipulation of data housed in cloud-based systems (i.e. AWS, Microsoft Azure)

Strong attention to detail and ability to take initiative.

Applicants selected will be subject to a government background investigation and must meet eligibility and suitability requirements.

Desired Qualifications:

A master’s degree in data science, Data Analytics, MIS, Engineering, or a related field is strongly preferred.

Extensive experience with Tableau publishing and well versed in Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server (should be considered a Tableau super user)

Previous experience using Tableau Prep Builder

Capable of using AI algorithms to streamline processes

Knowledge and practical experience with:

Presto, SQL and PL-SQL for both Oracle and Postgres

FEMA enterprise systems such as IFMIS, PARS, Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), Operational Data Store (ODS)

Analytic and visualization tools on the FEMA Technical Resource Manual (TRM).

Pay Range

$125,000 - $135,000
