Compliance: DOD 8140\n\nPosition Overview:\n

The Database Administrator at Fort Johnson will be responsible for managing, securing, and maintaining the organization's database systems. The role requires a deep understanding of database management systems (DBMS), database architecture, and the ability to ensure data integrity, security, and availability. The Database Administrator will work closely with other IT professionals and stakeholders to design, implement, and manage database solutions that support the organization's operations and strategic goals.\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nDatabase Management: Administer, maintain, and optimize the organization's database systems, ensuring their performance, security, and availability.\nData Integrity: Ensure data accuracy and integrity by implementing appropriate data models, normalization standards, and data validation procedures.\nBackup and Recovery: Develop and manage database backup and recovery plans to ensure data is safeguarded and can be restored in case of data loss or corruption.\nSecurity Compliance: Implement and enforce database security measures in compliance with DOD 8140 standards and Secret Clearance requirements, including access controls, encryption, and auditing.\nPerformance Tuning: Monitor database performance and implement tuning measures to optimize query execution and resource utilization.\nTroubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, providing support to users and ensuring minimal disruption to operations.\nDatabase Design: Collaborate with development teams to design and implement database schemas, tables, indexes, and views that support application development and reporting needs.\nDocumentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure knowledge transfer and compliance with organizational policies.\nCompliance and Security: Adhere to and enforce all DOD 8140 compliance standards, ensuring that all database activities are conducted in a secure and compliant manner.\nCollaboration: Work closely with other IT staff, including network administrators, security analysts, and developers, to ensure that database systems integrate seamlessly with other technology solutions.\n\nQualifications:\n\nEducation: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.\nExperience:\n\nMinimum of 5 years of experience in database administration, with a focus on DBMS such as SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL.\nExperience with database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and data modeling.\n\n\nCertifications:\n\nRelevant database administration certifications (e.g., Oracle DBA, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator).\nDOD 8140 (or equivalent) certification required.\n\n\nSecurity Clearance: Active Secret Clearance is required.\nSkills:\n\nStrong knowledge of database security best practices and compliance requirements.\nProficiency in SQL, database scripting, and automation.\nExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\nExperience working in a DOD or government environment.\nAdvanced certifications in database management or cybersecurity.\nFamiliarity with cloud-based database solutions and technologies.\n\n
