Overview Database Administrator Carrollton, TX The Database Administrator is responsible for coordinating the creation and changes to system databases and tests and implements the database applying knowledge of database management systems. This role may plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard computer databases as well as support various corporate department business systems. As a Database Administrator, you will need to have a strong understanding of both technical and business needs, as well as excellent troubleshooting skills and a commitment to ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of data systems and ensure databases run efficiently. Essential Responsibilities Create and organize systems to store and secure data; design and build new databases. Ensure that data is secure and protected from unauthorized access, breaches, and other threats. Work with other teams to assure that all Databases are setup for Monitoring and Alerting based on Thresholds that are agreed upon, and that the alerts are setup to be delivered to the appropriate Teams for Monitoring. Ensure that databases operate efficiently and without error, and tuning performance when needed. Backup and restore data to prevent data loss. Make sure that data is available to authorized users and that users can easily access the information they need. Create and test modifications to database structure when needed. Provide support to users and troubleshooting any data-related issues. Establish and ensure database standards for security, reliability, availability, and scalability. Identify opportunities for database infrastructure optimization and cost reduction. Coordinate the business intelligence (BI) system to transform raw data into meaningful insights. Collaborate with developers to design and implement new features. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in IT related field or equivalent experience. Database Performance Tuning (MSSQL, MongoDB, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, etc.) Database Management Requirements Analysis Software Development Fundamentals Data Maintenance Database Security Promoting Process Improvement System Administration Desired Skills Strong knowledge and experience in setting up, securing, and managing public cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure). Experience building and working with public cloud infrastructure. Strong knowledge and experience in configuring and managing Windows Server/Clients within a Cloud environment. Demonstrated knowledge of cloud provisioning and administration, cloud interoperability, cloud disaster recovery and business continuity strategies, as well as performance measurement and monitoring in the cloud on a large scale. Deep knowledge of web protocols, multiple operating systems, hypervisors and distributed systems architecture AWS, and/or Azure platforms and services. Strong programming skills and fluency with at least one of the following scripting languages: Python, Powershell Experience in Linux\UNIX system administration Experience with Container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Open Shift) Cloud provider certification (e.g., AWS Certified Developer, AWS Certified Architect, Azure). Experience with architecting software solutions Agile development practices and test-driven development Essential soft skills Strong interpersonal and communication skills A critical thinker with strong research and analytics skills. Self-motivated with a positive attitude and ability to work independently and/or in a team. Able to work under tight timelines and deliver on complex problems. Ability to keep up with fast-paced environment within Agile processes.
