Database Administrator
Description We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and optimize our databases to ensure data integrity, availability, and performance. You will work closely with development and operations teams to implement database solutions, monitor performance, and ensure the security of our data assets. As part of the IT team, you will help maintain high database availability and contribute to the overall efficiency of our data systems. Key Responsibilities: + Manage and maintain databases, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. + Design, implement, and optimize database structures, queries, and indexing strategies to meet business needs. + Monitor database performance and resolve any issues related to database efficiency, storage, and data integrity. + Implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data is protected and recoverable in case of failure. + Work with cross-functional teams to design and implement database solutions that support application development and data requirements. + Ensure database security by implementing best practices and managing access controls. + Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, providing timely support for database-related incidents. + Stay up-to-date with emerging database technologies and trends to improve overall database management. Requirements + Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). + Experience in database administration, management, and optimization for relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgresQL, Oracle, SQL Server). + Proficiency in SQL and experience writing complex queries and stored procedures. + Experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning. + Strong understanding of database security principles and best practices. + Familiarity with cloud-based databases and managed database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL). + Knowledge of database monitoring tools and performance tuning techniques. + Experience in database design, including normalization, indexing, and query optimization. + Ability to work in an Agile environment and collaborate with development teams. + Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex database-related issues.
