Job Overview
As a Database Administrator at CWT, you’ll be responsible for activities and projects related to the design, development, implementation, and support of CWT's complex, 24x7, On-Prem and Cloud, SQL Server, and cloud native databases. You’ll align with the CWT’s Application and Infrastructure verticals to deliver available, stable, and performant data services to achieve customer and business objectives.
Responsibilities
· Provide deep technical knowledge to a team responsible for the support of Microsoft SQL Server and cloud native databases in a 24x7 highly available environment including global team members in a follow-the-sun support model.
· Proficient in SQL development and administration disciplines with current hands-on experience with the latest SQL Server releases including SQL 2022, 2019, 2017, 2016.
· Works under minimal supervision with wide latitude for independent judgment. Typically requires 5 years’ experience in a mission critical production environment.
· Hands-On experience with cloud native databases, compute, storage, monitoring technologies, and continuous integration pipelines preferred.
· Experience with the BC and DR capabilities of Microsoft SQL Server including Always-On, Mirroring, or replication with a practical understanding of other Infrastructure BC/DC capabilities.
· Leverage metrics to drive capacity planning and trending to proactively identify potential problems and mitigate before they result in customer impact.
· Collaborate both vertically and horizontally to evolve overall database services and technology strategies.
· Respectfully challenging the status quo looking at technology and processes with fresh eyes constantly asking should we do it differently.
· Understand the place of automation and standardization when delivering stable, maintainable, and performant database services at scale.
· Experience implementing automation of Microsoft SQL Server deployment and maintenance, and support activities preferred.
· Perform platform, database, and query optimization
· Experience supporting and administering other database platforms MySQL, Sybase, RDS, Oracle, or MongoDB is a plus.
· Experience supporting SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS a plus.
· Experience with PowerShell or other scripting languages a plus
· Experience with PCI, SOC, and SQL Auditing a plus
Education• BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology or related field.
