**CTG is seeking to fill a Database Administrator position for our client in Anchorage, AK.**
**Location:** Anchorage, AK
**Duration:** Permanent Placement
**Duties:**
+ Design, implement, secure, and optimize enterprise databases for a mission-critical environment at a local electric company.
+ Control and monitor system-level database security and maintain enterprise production databases.
+ Direct, coordinate, create, and maintain database elements in all production networked databases.
+ Perform SQL database programming to provide data to front-end applications.
+ Manage database backup, recovery, scheduling, and disaster prevention.
+ Ensure adequate data retention on databases.
+ Monitor database performance and capacity, optimizing efficiency.
+ Provide technical support for resolving database-related issues.
+ Develop and maintain naming standards, in-house educational materials, and language interfaces.
+ Plan and implement installation and updates to database software.
+ Act as primary contact between the client and database software vendors for problem resolution and maintenance.
+ Assess the impact of proposed upgrade projects and support tasks.
+ Automate database tasks using current tools and scripting languages.
**Skills:**
+ Expertise in relational database management systems such as Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.
+ Strong knowledge of database security, backup, and recovery strategies.
+ Advanced query tuning and performance optimization skills.
+ Proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL), PL/SQL, Transact-SQL (T-SQL), and scripting languages such as PowerShell.
+ Experience with logical and physical database design and data analysis techniques.
+ Familiarity with automation strategies for database management.
+ Strong troubleshooting and incident response skills.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
**Experience:**
+ Minimum of five years of experience as a Database Administrator in an enterprise environment.
+ At least two years of experience with an Oracle version released in the past ten years.
+ At least two years of experience in database design or database programming and development.
+ Three years of experience directly supporting a relational database management system beyond programming and analysis requirements.
+ Applications development experience in a client/server environment preferred.
**Education:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
+ Four additional years of equivalent experience may be substituted for the required degree.
**Working Conditions:**
+ Standard office environment.
+ This position is subject to 24-hour call with some weekend work.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $46.57 to $55.88. Salary offers are based on various factors, including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefits package is also offered.
