The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Journeyman Database Administrator to join our team, focusing on AS400 (IBMi) operating systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining our IBM i-based databases, ensuring their performance, security, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
Database Management: Install, configure, and maintain IBM i-based databases (DB2 for i, etc.) and ensure they are optimized for performance.Backup and Recovery: Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies for IBM i-based databases.Performance Tuning: Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of IBM i database systems, including query optimization, indexing, and system resources management.Security and Compliance: Implement security measures to protect sensitive data, including user access control, auditing, and encryption. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.System Upgrades: Plan and execute database upgrades and patches on IBM i platforms with minimal disruption to business operations.Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, including system performance, connectivity, and integrity issues.Database Maintenance: Perform regular database maintenance tasks, including reorganization, index rebuilds, and data archiving.Collaboration: Work with developers to design and optimize database schemas, stored procedures, and queries. Assist in database-related development and deployment tasks.Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and policies.
