Database Administrator- Data Engineer II

As a Data Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the HealthCare Payments, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the data collection, storage, access, and analytics solutions in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As an emerging member of a data engineering team, you execute data solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role.

Job responsibilities

Organize, update, and maintain data to ensure it is actionable and useful for decision-making. Demonstrate basic knowledge of data system components to determine necessary controls for secure data access. Be responsible for making custom configuration changes in one to two tools to generate products based on business or customer requests. Update logical or physical data models based on new use cases with minimal supervision. Contribute to a team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect. Monitor customer-facing databases to ensure 24/7/365 uptime, adhering to our internal SLA of 99.99%, with on-call responsibilities. Set up and configure Amazon RDS database instances. Solve and troubleshoot issues in Amazon RDS using DataDog and CloudWatch. Identify optimization opportunities within customer-facing databases. Perform change management of database systems following the company's defined change management policies. Understand and utilize tools such as JET, Jules, and Spinnaker

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with 2+ years of applied experience. Advanced proficiency in SQL, including expertise in joins and aggregations. Significant experience in statistical data analysis and the ability to select appropriate tools for analysis. Experience with AWS database services, including RDS SQL Server. Ability to run and troubleshoot AWS Lambda functions. Proficiency in using Datadog and CloudWatch for monitoring and troubleshooting. Experience in administering Microsoft SQL Server 2019. Experience with Multi-AZ deployments. Background in the installation and configuration of SQL Server database technology in both development and DBA capacities, including tasks such as data backup and restore, debugging, optimization, software patch applications, defragmentation, and database replacement. Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills AWS Certification is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, preferably in a highly transactional/OLTP environment. Background in the installation and configuration of SQL Server database technology in both development and DBA capacities, including tasks such as data backup and restore, debugging, optimization, software patch applications, defragmentation, and database replacement. Minimum of 2 years of experience with AWS database services, including RDS SQL, DynamoDB, etc. Proficiency in using the AWS Management Console. Basic knowledge of DEV Shell and Postman.
