The Database Administrator II is part of the team responsible for the operational support of business-critical database systems. The DBA II under the supervision of the Senior Database Administrator (Sr. DBA), performs tasks needed to administer Microsoft SQL Server. The DBA II demonstrates strong communication skills, the ability to build functional relationships with team members and users, and excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

 

Schedule: Fulltime shifts typically include eight-hour days Monday through Friday, with evenings and weekends off, although may be adjusted to align with clinic’s operational hours.

 

Compensation: Pay range depending on experience

What You Can Expect:

Monitor database server health and performanceInstall, patch, configure, and maintain SQL ServerAnalyze and resolve common issues/faults in SQL Server and related infrastructure, providing issue resolution end-to-endQuery and understand data from SQL Server system dynamic management objectsWrite T-SQL queries and scripts to investigate issues and complete assigned tasksMaintain a high degree of security by implementing changes to access rights in SQL Server and Windows Server as directed by Sr. DBAWork with other IT teams to identify and understand technical needs and solutionsWork with other IT teams to analyze and resolve issuesReview relational database designs and T-SQL code for application development teamsHelp upgrade SQL Server to newer versionsHelp migrate databases between servers and platformsResearch and recommend improvements to database system performance, integrity, and security, and complianceFollow database administration team standards and proceduresProvide 24x7 on-call support on a rotating basisFlexible to work off-hours, including weekends and holidays, as requiredPerform other tasks and functions as required or assigned by Sr. DBA Qualifications

Successful Candidates Bring:

Required

A minimum of 2 years of experience administering Microsoft SQL Server in production environmentsA minimum of 2 years of experience writing T-SQLA minimum of 1 year of experience working with relational databases conceptsSQL Server administration experience including:SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)SQL AgentDatabase auditing and controlDatabase securityDatabase design and code developmentTroubleshooting and resolving faults in SQL Server and related infrastructureSQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)Knowledge of Microsoft Windows ServerKnowledge of relational database concepts (e.g., tables, columns, rows, primary keys, foreign keys, indexes, normalization).Knowledge of security and permissions in SQL ServerProven troubleshooting skillsStrong analysis and critical thinking skillsStrong documentation skillsStrong PowerShell scripting skillsAbility to analyze Query Execution PlansKnowledge of SQL Server WAIT typesKnowledge of SQL Server DMVs

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information science, information systems management, or equivalentAdministering databases for in-house-built applicationsKnowledge of HIPAA compliance requirements as it related to database administrationMicrosoft Azure database administration experience
