Database Administrator Lead

Job Title – Lead Database Administrator
Location – Birmingham, AL 3 days a week hybrid
Duration – 6 Months Contract to hire

Job Summary:
Responsible for coordinating changes to computer databases, test and implement the database applying knowledge of database management systems. Responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing security measures to safeguard the computer database.

Job Responsibilities:
• Direct programmers and analysts to make changes to existing databases and database management systems.
• Direct others in coding logical and physical database descriptions.
• Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.
• Review and approve database development and determine project scope and limitations.
• Approve, schedule, plan and supervise the installation and testing of new products and improvements to computer systems.
• Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure.
• Develop standards and guidelines to guide the use and acquisition of software and to protect vulnerable information.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills:
• Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Strong ability to work independently and manage ones time.
• Strong knowledge of computer software, such as SQL, Visual Basic, Oracle, etc.

Education/Experience:
• High School Degree and 2 year technical degree in computer programming or equivalent training/work experience required.
• Bachelor degree preferred. 8+ years experience required.

Function of the Group: Operations - database support of new project platforms / Database support for Neo4J Platform
Industry background: Database Background required

Roles and Responsibilities:
*Significant Experience with Neo4j and Cypher query language.
• 5-7+ years experience in design and implementation of complex distributed systems architectures
• Expertise in graph driven data science applications, such as graph based feature engineering, graph embedding, or graph neural networks
• Experience building Enterprise Level Standards and Gold Images for provisioning
• Experience with Encryption Solutions for Neo4J
• Experience with Backup & Recovery Methodologies used for Neo4J
• Experience with Neo4J HA Architecture for Critical Applications (Clustering, Multiple Data Centers, etc.)
• Experience with LDAP Based Authentication & Authorization for Neo4J
• Experience in high availability and disaster recovery solutions
• Current hands-on experience with at least two coding and scripting languages e.g. Python, Java, Scala, Shell Scripting
• Analytical skills necessary to perform troubleshooting of errors and performance issues
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Results-oriented and able to work across the organization as an individual contributor
• Ability to work in a rapidly transforming organization
• Excellent customer service skills
• Technically proficient in assigned IT discipline(s)
• Experience with Non-Relational technologies such as MongoDB, Redis is a Plus.

Must Have Technical Skills:
1. Neo4J Database Administration
2. Cypher Query Language
3. Database experience

Flex Skills/Nice to Have:
1. Standardization experience for a large platform
2. Experience with Non-Relation technologies (MongoDB, Redis)

Soft Skills:
1. Excellent communication skills
2. Leadership
