Database Analyst/Programmer
Title: Database Analyst/Programmer Skilled and motivated Database Analyst/Programmer who will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining databases that collect, store, and analyze data related to cognitive and physical performance enhancement. The ideal candidate should have experience with Microsoft technologies specifically, with SharePoint, Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI, and Dataverse. The work environment is agile, which requires the ideal candidate to be flexible, adaptable, collaborative, and work towards continuous improvement. Enhancing mission readiness through data-driven insights and advanced analytics is essential for making informed, strategic decisions. This position serves as the foundation for these capabilities, designing, managing, and optimizing data systems that enable the team to extract meaningful insights, develop advanced analytics solutions, and drive impactful decision-making. Expertise in structuring data is a critical steppingstone in transforming raw information into actionable intelligence that supports mission success. Key Responsibilities: Database Design and Development: + Design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure database to support the collection and analysis of human performance data. + Develop data models and database schemas that accommodate a variety of data sources, including physiological, cognitive, and operational performance metrics. Data Integration and Management: + Integrate data from multiple sources, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and consistency. + Develop ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to manage the flow of data into and out of the database systems. Data Analysis and Reporting: + Collaborate with data analysts and performance specialists to create and maintain data reporting tools and dashboards. + Develop SQL queries and scripts to extract meaningful insights and generate reports that inform training and performance optimization strategies. System Optimization: + Monitor and optimize database performance, identifying and addressing issues related to speed, storage, and reliability. + Implement database security measures to protect sensitive performance data. Collaboration and Support: + Work closely with cross-functional teams, including human performance specialists, data scientists, IT personnel, and vendors to ensure database solutions meet program needs. + Provide technical support and training to end-users and promoting best practices. Documentation and Compliance: + Maintain comprehensive documentation of database structures, processes, and procedures. + Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and organizational policies. Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Health and Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with 3+ years’ experience supporting software development. In lieu of degree, active position-related certification and/or training/certificate obtained within the last 3 years. + Proven experience as a Database Programmer or similar role, with a strong background in database design, development, and management. Specifically, Microsoft technologies such as SharePoint, Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI, and Dataverse. + Knowledge and experience with database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or Microsoft Dataverse. + Familiarity with data integration tools and ETL processes. + Experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus. + Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. + Good communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with non-technical team members. + Knowledge of data security best practices and regulatory compliance.
