Database COE Lead

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Database Administration team at Marsh Canada as Database COE Lead . This role will be based in Toronto. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

The DPT CoE Lead will oversee the technical directions of the DB Architecture, Security & Compliance, Technical Product management, Engineering and DB Consulting teams within the DPT CoE.  These teams are responsible to drive informed decision making when it comes to selecting the right database solution for new applications, promote best practices, foster innovation, and drive continuous improvement in all aspects of database management and capability delivery.

We will count on you to be:

Highly experienced in topics of databases, processes, controls, and audit practices

Excellent knowledge of current technologies to understand security, audit and compliance implications as well as sound knowledge of emerging DB technologies.

SDLC best practices      

Familiarity with DevOps and Platform Engineering 

Duties:

Works on POCs (35%)

Works on Best Practices (20%) 

Works on DB Service improvement (20%) 

Works on Engineering (15%)   

Works Audit & Compliance (10%) 

What you need to have: 

Strong skill set in Database Security

A degree in computer science, Information Systems Management, or Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and work experience is acceptable

Can communicate network and develop relationships effectively across all levels and groups of an organization

Excellent communication skills - verbal and written and strong organizational skills 

Sound knowledge and understanding of:

ITIL processes

Audit drivers and processes

Security policies and processes

Database monitoring tools

Excellent technical knowledge in supporting Windows and Linux based Database Technologies in one or more of SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB, Postgres, MySqL

Cloud computing technologies and environments as well as containerization
