Description Job Posting: Database Engineer - Yugabyte Specialist Are you passionate about database engineering and looking for an opportunity to utilize your expertise? We are seeking top technical talent for a contract-to-permanent placement Database Engineer role to bolster our client's team. This role requires a software/infrastructure engineer with hands-on experience installing, configuring, patching, upgrading, deploying, and running Yugabyte databases. The chosen candidate will evaluate and prepare new and upgraded Yugabyte and Postgres-compatible offerings for company-wide use, while effectively documenting and conveying optimal techniques, patterns, and best practices for our operational teams. Essential knowledge includes: DBMS concepts such as ACID, CAP, and consistency. Yugabyte deployments at an enterprise scale, including high availability configurations, fault tolerance and failover, replication, cluster management, and security mechanisms. Yugabyte internals, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. Training on Yugabyte will be provided if the applicant has experience with other databases such as Google Spanner, Cassandra, Postgres and/or Oracle. Desirable attributes include: Proficiency at the Unix command line. Competency in coding or scripting, such as for test harnesses or other database-related tools. Experience as a database administrator and/or a Unix system administrator. Knowledge of virtualization, cloud infrastructures, and implementations such as VMWare, OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Docker. Familiarity with AWS, Google Cloud, Azure or other public cloud offerings. Knowledge of contemporary storage and compute technologies, including hyper-converged infrastructures.
