Database Manager

We are excited to be accepting applications for a new position on the Information Technology Systems team. The Database Manager is accountable for ensuring the effective utilization of The Henry Ford's systems and data. This position will work closely with the Director of Information Technology Systems and will be responsible for overseeing the storage of information while maintaining current developments in database design and application. The Database Manager will play a key role in assuring day-to-day operations align with the strategic goals and that data is available and performant. Essential Responsibilities: Database Manager (70%) Project Analyst (30%) • Serve as knowledge leader and systems manager to design, implement, and manage The Henry Ford SQL databases, data warehouse, and data integration platforms that include but are not limited to Tableau, Power BI, QlikView, or Looker, SQL Server, Snowflake, Redshift, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud • Collaborate with IT and development teams to enhance data infrastructure and BI capabilities • Use of Power BI and SSRS to assist with the creation, implementation, and maintenance of interactive dashboards, reports, and analytic tools that provide insights into institutional wide key performance indicators (KPIs) and business metrics • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders that include cross-department and multi-level department teams to understand how data-driven strategies can improve efficiency • Act as the liaison between the team and business units, translating technical data solutions into business-friendly language • Support the design of methods and guidelines with the Director of ITS to ensure proper extraction and insertion of data • Ensure the availability of timely, accurate, and actionable business intelligence • Train THF staff on database platforms and maintaining documentation on processes • Achieve operational objectives for smooth functioning for end users • Ensure proper documentation for all data systems, tools, and processes • Lead a small team of onsite and vendor BI and database developers • Lead data projects from initiation to completion, ensuring that project deliverable deadlines are met on time and within budget • Prepare highly complex and detailed analysis in support of major programs, projects, contracts, identify trends, patterns, areas for improvement, and/or institutional goals • Tracks and escalates action items, monitors project delivery and client satisfaction, and communicates with all appropriate multi-level department and management individuals • Research potential solutions and help design automation for repetitive database and other workflow tasks • Maintain a broad knowledge of tools including Microsoft365 products to further develop data strategies Your Qualifications: • Degree or credential in a related field such as Information Technology, Information Management or Computer Science OR in lieu of formal education, 5+ years' experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or database administration • 1 or more years' experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or database management • Expertise in BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, QlikView, or Looker • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with data modeling and ETL processes • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and technologies (e.g., SQL Server, Snowflake, Redshift) Preferred Qualifications: • 2+ years in a managerial or leadership experience • Experience with cloud-based BI platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) • Previous experience working with an organizational database. Financial Management Information Systems (FIMS) experience Special Skills: • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and present actionable insights • Excellent leadership, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively to meet project deadlines • Knowledge of data management with experience in data collection, maintenance, and analysis • Demonstrated results in creating and executing efficient queries, exports, reports and imports • Strong organizational skills, proactive in identifying opportunities for efficiency and thorough attention to detail • Ability to interact well with a diverse range of people and work in a team setting • Ability to function as part of a welcoming, organized and efficient environment for all internal and external constituents with a commitment to an inclusive environment Please note that this job description is subject to modifications at any time to meet the evolving requirements of our institution.
