Description
The Data Center Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and ensuring the optimal operation of servers, network equipment, and other critical infrastructure within a data center environment. This role involves hands-on hardware and software support, monitoring system performance, and adhering to strict operational protocols to ensure uptime and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Hardware Installation and Maintenance:
+ Install, configure, and maintain servers, network devices, and storage systems.
+ Perform hardware diagnostics and repair or replace faulty components.
+ Ensure proper cabling and connectivity between devices.
+ Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
+ Monitor data center systems and environmental conditions (temperature, power, etc.).
+ Identify and resolve hardware, software, and network issues promptly.
+ Escalate complex problems to higher-level support teams or vendors as needed.
+ System and Network Management:
+ Perform routine system checks, updates, and patches.
+ Support network configuration and connectivity tasks.
+ Maintain inventory and documentation of hardware, software, and network configurations.
+ Operational Support:
+ Adhere to data center protocols and security standards.
+ Assist with capacity planning and resource allocation.
+ Ensure all systems comply with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
+ Collaboration and Reporting:
+ Work closely with IT teams to implement and support data center projects.
+ Provide regular updates on system health, performance, and incidents.
+ Document procedures, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions for knowledge sharing.

Qualifications:
+ Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Associate or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field preferred).
+ Experience:
+ 1-3 years of experience in data center operations, IT support, or a similar role.
+ Hands-on experience with server hardware, networking equipment, and cabling.
+ Technical Skills:
+ Knowledge of Linux, Windows Server, or other operating systems.
+ Familiarity with networking concepts (e.g., VLANs, IP addressing, firewalls).
+ Experience with data center tools such as monitoring software and ticketing systems.
+ Soft Skills:
+ Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
+ Ability to work independently and in a team under time-sensitive conditions.
+ Good communication and documentation skills.
