University Place Hotel is a public hotel with approximately 8000 sq. ft. of meeting space, a restaurant and 234 guest rooms : https://www.uplacehotel.com/ Position Summary The purpose of this position is to provide excellent service while contributing to the business needs of the hotel. This includes but is not limited to: checking guests in/out, answering phones, making reservations, responding to questions, cash handling, and working closely with other hotel and PSU departments.
The agent must be detail-oriented and able to remain courteous and focused in a busy atmosphere. This position is a mixed Day & Night Agent at .5 FTE (20 hours per week).
Minimum Qualifications from Classification Completion of courses or training in Office Technology; OR
One year of general clerical experience which included typing, word processing, or other generation of documents; OR
An equivalent combination of training and experience. Additional Minimum Qualifications for this Position - Completion of high school education
- At least one year of hotel or similar hospitality/travel industry experience./
- Experience with responsibly handling cash and sensitive guest information.
CUSTOMER SERVICE: The front desk is the main contact point for all who enter the hotel. A person in this position needs to exhibit awareness of representing the whole hotel (and PSU) by providing consistently excellent service to all guests/visitors.
- Ability to resolve conflict and to address guest needs in a professional and timely manner in busy, sometimes stressful circumstances.
- Must be confident in making direct eye contact, and present an open and friendly nature.
COMMUNICATION:
- Ability to clearly communicate effectively with a diverse customer base in person, in writing, by telephone or by email to include greeting customers, guests, and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner, collecting payments, helping guests needing assistance, answering customer or public inquiries.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals and work instructions.
- Ability to write clear, complete and accurate routine reports and correspondence to provide information to supervisors and co-workers.

Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement The starting hourly rate for this position will be between $15.59 and $18.12. The starting salary may be negotiable above this range, however it will be dependent upon the knowledge, experience, skills and abilities of the chosen candidate, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
