Day Camp Coordinator - Southold, NY
The Day Camp Coordinator (DCC) provides administrative leadership for day camp counselors and campers and ensures that Day Camp runs safely. The DCC must lead drop off and pick up each day (including sign-in and out sheets), be present for each Round-Up in which Day Camp participates, and float during cabin activities to assist overnight staff with the needs of Day Campers. Develop and coordinate day camp activities during cabin time, lunch, siesta, etc. Set goals with day camp counselors and foster teamwork to achieve goals. Facilitate staff meetings to share ideas, delegate tasks, and ensure clear communication within the unit. Responsible for ensuring that all unit members are accounted for during scheduled unit times. Provide regular feedback to the Day Camp Counselors and senior administrative staff. Participate in the general planning of the camp program. Assist with all camp program activities and other camp-wide activities as assigned. Interpret safety and health regulations. Participate in staff meetings and training events as scheduled. DCC is also responsible for administrative duties, including cabin assignments, parent communications, recording daily Choice/Challenge sign-ups, and photocopying schedules and rosters each week. Required Qualifications: + Must be at least 18 years old to comply with NYS Department of Health regulations. + Experience working with children and conflict resolution + Strong Leadership Skills + The ability to facilitate at least one program area.Emotional maturity, good health, and vitality. + Ability to work cooperatively with campers and other staff members. + Willingness to learn + Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position. + Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications: + One year of college (30+ credit hours) and coursework in education, physical education, outdoor recreation, youth development, or a related field. + One or more years of experience as a camp counselor. + First Aid/CPR certification.
