Day Care - Lead Teacher (Toddlers)

Overview
The Campus Ministries Lead Teacher (Toddlers) works to carry out the learning experiences that will help children develop socially, spiritually, intellectually, physically and emotionally.
Responsibilities
+ Implement the daily program while following the daily schedule as closely as possible.
+ Always supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children, being alert to the needs and/or problems of the children as individuals and as a group. Alert the CMD/Site Coordinator of potential problems. When applicable, complete an Incident and Accident form.
+ Plans a developmentally appropriate curriculum, including activities and experiences contributing to each child’s growth and development. Supervise activities and play with the children.
+ Submits monthly calendars to the Director and distribute them to parents, as needed.
+ Decorate the classroom with bulletin boards, pictures, children’s artwork, and other hangings.
+ Maintain the organization of classroom materials and equipment.
+ Maintain order of classroom supplies. Advise the Director when supplies need to replenish.
+ Prepare a snack for the children and sit with them while they eat it.
+ Evaluate each child’s special needs and attempt to meet them in concurrence with the Director/Coordinator.
+ Greet the parents at arrival and departure times. Encourage and welcome parents to be involved in the Center’s activities.
+ Conduct individual conferences with the parents of each child when needed.
+ Conform to meet NY State Day care regulations regarding teacher in-service training.
+ Be familiar with and follow all Campus Ministries policies.
+ Be familiar with and follow NY state daycare regulations.
+ Keep the Director/ Site Coordinator informed in advance of program needs.
+ Attend regular staff planning and evaluation meetings.
+ Daily supervision and help with classroom cleanup, vacuuming, and laundering of rest linens as needed.
+ Handle discipline promptly and in accordance with the stated policy on discipline.
+ Check each child daily for visible signs of illness and report it to the Director/Site Coordinator.
+ Maintain Campus Ministries’ health policies.
+ Support and assist in the overall spiritual development of the CFOT children.
+ Must be available to work on Sundays, as required.
+ Provide transportation to Campus Ministries’ children in Salvation Army vehicles assigned to Campus Ministries.
+ Perform any additional duties centered around the children’s care as requested by the Director.

Experience and Qualifications
+ Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)
+ Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)
+ Child Development Associate Certification
+ First Aid & CPR
