Job Description

Technologist responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Following prescribed procedures, performing any of the tests within any of the laboratory specialties Calculating the results of the tests performed, if necessaryOperating, calibrating, conducting performance checks, and maintaining any laboratory analyzers or equipmentRecognizing and correcting basic analyzer malfunctions; Notifying management personnel when appropriatePreparing reagents or media from a prescribed procedureEvaluating media, reagents, and calibrators according to established criteriaConducting established quality control procedures on analytical tests, equipment, reagents, media, and products.  Evaluating results of quality control and implements corrective action when indicatedDetermining performance specifications for new methodsConfirming and verifying results through knowledge of techniques, principles, and analyzersMonitoring quality assurance/continuous improvement programsMonitoring safety programs in compliance with laboratory regulationsUtilizes laboratory information systems or other methods to accurately and effectively report patient resultsWriting laboratory procedures conforming to standardized formatReporting test results conforming to established procedures

Qualifications

The ideal candidate would possess:

Ability to work in a high stress, high volume environmentKnowledge of the principles, methods, materials, equipment, and techniques of medical technologyKnowledge of the principles of chemistry, biology, and bacteriology as related to medical technologySome knowledge of recent developments in the field of medical technologyAbility to instruct subordinate technologist in areas of medical laboratory testingAbility to perform assigned tasks according to prescribed procedures and to make accurate observations and records of tests resultsSkill in the use of medical laboratory equipmentAnalytical thinking and communication skillsAdvanced computer, scientific, mathematical, and organizational skillsExcellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detailAbility to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitudeAbility to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies

Minimum Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution If required by the State in which the laboratory is located, the appropriate State License to perform clinical laboratory testing. In California, must be licensed by the State of California Department of Public Health as a Clinical Laboratory ScientistIn Georgia, must successfully complete a certification examination from ASCP, AMT, or NCA, or AAB WORK

Minimum Experience & Qualification Requirements:

Minimum 1 years experience in a laboratory settingNo previous experience in Transplant TestingKnowledge of the principles, methods, materials, equipment, and techniques of medical technologyKnowledge of the principles of chemistry, biology, and bacteriology as related to medical technologySome knowledge of recent developments in the field of medical technologyAbility to perform assigned tasks according to prescribed procedures and to make accurate observations and records of tests resultsSkill in the use of medical laboratory equipment. Strong organizational and planning skills as well as strong attention to detail.Strong and effective written and oral communication skills, and interpersonal skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software programs including accurate keyboarding skillsInternal & External Customer-Centric SkillsAuthorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Additional Information

Position is full-time  8a-6:30p 1st shift, with overtime, as needed. All candidates within commutable distance to Philadelphia, PA and authorized to work in the United States are encouraged to apply.
