We are seeking an experienced DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to oversee and optimize our DB2 database environments. The ideal candidate will ensure database stability, security, and scalability, supporting critical business and development requirements. This role involves managing all aspects of DB2 database operations, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery.
Key Responsibilities Install, configure, and upgrade DB2 database software on platforms such as z/OS and LUW. Manage database instances, schemas, and objects (e.g., tables, indexes, stored procedures). Monitor and enhance database performance, optimizing queries and configurations. Develop and implement comprehensive backup and recovery strategies using DB2 tools. Apply security best practices, managing user access controls and auditing mechanisms. Ensure databases remain up-to-date with patches and updates to address vulnerabilities. Diagnose and resolve database performance issues and connectivity challenges. Collaborate with development teams to design efficient database structures and integrations. Review and optimize SQL code for performance and compliance with standards. Monitor database growth and forecast capacity to align with business demands. Document database configurations, processes, and procedures for operational continuity. Provide regular health, performance, and usage reports for databases. Qualifications and Skills Required Skills Expertise in IBM DB2 database administration for z/OS or LUW platforms. Proficiency in SQL, performance tuning, and optimization techniques. Experience with DB2 utilities like RUNSTATS, REORG, LOAD, and UNLOAD. Comprehensive knowledge of database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery methodologies. Strong understanding of database security and regulatory compliance. Preferred Skills Familiarity with replication and high-availability configurations (e.g., HADR). Knowledge of scripting and automation using tools like Shell or Python. Experience with monitoring tools like IBM Data Studio or third-party software. Exposure to DevOps practices and database integration within CI/CD pipelines. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 5–11 years of hands-on experience managing DB2 databases in production environments. Relevant certifications such as IBM Certified Database Administrator are an advantage.
