Assists with ensuring compliance with all DOT federal, state, and corporate regulatory procedures and requirements in the DC transportation department. Ensures safe and timely product deliveries to customers. Provides clear communication regarding fleet manning needs to ensure fully manned tractor levels and Maintains DOT fleet vehicles to federal and company standards and service schedules.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assist the Transportation Supervisor with the following job duties:
Responsible for supervising, staffing, evaluating, disciplining, training, scheduling, and goal setting for the DC Transportation department.
Ensure the driving team and fleet vehicles are compliant with all DOT and company rules/regulations at all times.
Oversee and confirm all DOT fleet vehicle maintenance is performed to federal and corporate service standards and schedules.
Conduct and document driver training to ensure our DOT route drivers have a clear understanding of all related job functions and requirements.
Effective two-way communication with all O’Reilly DOT TM’s to ensure they understand the company goals.
Daily departures are addressed with plans to achieve the departure times.
Conducting monthly safety meetings.
Collaborate with other departments to coordinate activities related to special deliveries and pickups.
Communicate driver hiring needs to ensure the DC driving team is at optimum operational levels to assure timely deliveries.
Produce and submit all required reporting to corporate timely and accurately.
Monitor, supervise, and report on designated fleet performance and departmental key performance indicators.
Readily available to department team members 24 hours a day.
Foster and maintain a professional, positive, and responsive relationship with the team members in the Transportation department.
Supervise and coordinate the efforts of Transportation department, to assure the department is running smoothly, efficiently and accurately and in line with Company efforts while following all federal and state rules, regulations, and laws.
Perform additional activities as directed by the Transportation Field Manager and the Director of Fleet Operations.
All other duties as assigned.
SKILLS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Knowledge of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR)
Familiarity with the Hazardous Materials by Highway Regulations, the North American Standard Out of Service (OOS) criteria, and electronic logging devices (ELD’s)
Working knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel programs
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to multitask and work well in a team environment
Be adaptable to learning new programs as required to maximize fleet safety and overall department performance
Ability to effectively interface within all levels of the DC organization
Desired:1 year previous experience in fleet management
Experience with Distribution Center (DC) operations
Experience working with routing and delivery schedules
Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish is highly desired)
Experience with AS400 platforms
